The Northern Star, Embodied Leadership through the Nordic Elements
Misty Nordic spruce forest at dawn
10–16 August 2026 · Sju Sjöar, Sweden · An international retreat, held in English · By application only

An Initiation into Embodied Self Leadership

The future does not need more followers. It needs people who dare to become who they truly are. Whether you are already leading a business, a family, a community, or simply standing at a crossroads in life, the future asks for a different kind of leadership, one rooted in self-awareness, balance, responsibility and truth. The Northern Star is a six-day initiation into embodied self leadership, helping you understand your strengths, blind spots, patterns and potential through the wisdom of the Nordic Elements. You will learn when to stand firm like Earth. When to flow like Water. When to act with the courage of Fire. And when to step back and gain perspective and vision through Air. Because balance is not about becoming one thing. It is about knowing which part of yourself is needed in each moment. Through nature, silence, reflection, breathwork, firewalking, community and deep personal inquiry, you will develop the awareness and tools to navigate life with greater clarity, resilience and purpose. Not just for yourself. But for the future you are here to create!

What this is

There comes a point in life when more information is not the answer.

When the podcasts, books, courses and endless self-improvement no longer fill the space inside.

When the noise becomes too loud.

When performing your life becomes exhausting.

When relationships get stuck in the same patterns.

When something deeper begins calling you back to yourself.

The Northern Star was created for that moment.

This is not about fixing yourself.

It is about understanding yourself.

Your strengths. Your blind spots. Your natural gifts. Your patterns under pressure. And the parts of yourself that are waiting to be developed.

Through the wisdom of the Nordic Elements, you will learn how to lead yourself with greater awareness, balance and authenticity.

Not by becoming someone else.

But by becoming more fully who you already are.

Because the future does not need more people following someone else's path.

It needs people who know who they are, what they stand for and how to bring their unique gifts into the world.

This is not a traditional retreat.

This is an initiation into embodied self leadership through nature, silence, challenge, community and truth.

  • Not a vacation.
  • Not wellness.
  • Not a “cozy retreat.”

This is devotion to self and preparation for the future you are here to co-create.

The First Days

We enter silence.

No introductions. No job titles. No stories about who you have been.

No need to explain yourself.

For a few days, you are invited to step away from the roles you carry and the expectations you have learned to meet.

To put down the noise. To stop performing. To stop proving. To simply be.

In a world that constantly asks us to define ourselves, silence offers something different. It allows us to listen.

Not to the voices around us. But to the voice within.

This is where the journey begins.

To empty. To soften. To remember.

The journey

Through the four elements.

From silence, we begin a guided descent through the elements, each one a chamber of the self.

01Air

Communication · Breath · Perspective · Expression · Expansion

Breathe. Rise above the noise and gain perspective. Speak what has remained unspoken. Reconnect with your voice, your vision and the truth that wants to be expressed.

02Water

Emotions · Nervous System · Intuition · Flow · Balance

Soften. Allow the body to speak. Learn to understand the emotional body as a source of wisdom and guidance. Through cold water, heat, movement and fascia release, we begin to soften what has been held too tightly. Restore emotional balance and reconnect with the wisdom that lives beneath the surface.

03Fire

Courage · Action · Truth · Transformation · Power

Step forward. Meet the edge between fear and freedom. Through firewalking, Nordic fire ceremony and drumming, we transform insight into action. Discover the courage to trust yourself, stand in your truth and move boldly in the direction of your life.

04Earth

Grounding · Integration · Trust · Embodied Leadership · Purpose

Return. Ground your insights into daily life. Walk the ancient forests, integrate your experience and discover the strength of steady growth. Reconnect with trust, patience and the leader you are becoming. Not as who you were. But as who you remembered you could be.

Your Journey Begins the Moment You Apply

Once you submit your application, you will receive access to our Nordic Elements Archetype Assessment.

Designed around the wisdom of the four elements, this assessment reveals the archetypal forces that most strongly shape how you lead, communicate, make decisions, navigate relationships and respond under pressure.

You will discover:

  • Your dominant element
  • Your natural strengths and gifts
  • Your blind spots and growth edges
  • The patterns that shape your leadership and life
  • Which elements need to be strengthened to create greater balance

This insight becomes the foundation for your Northern Star journey.

Because self leadership begins with self awareness.

Your Guides & The Land

The Northern Star is held by husband and wife team Jeanette and Johan Bergelin. Entrepreneurs, coaches, retreat leaders and fellow travellers on the path of self leadership. Together, they have spent decades exploring what it means to live authentically, lead consciously and create a life aligned with purpose.

Jeanette's work is rooted in transformation, self discovery and the courage to follow the voice within. Following a profound near-death experience at the age of twenty-two, she has dedicated her life to helping others reconnect with their truth, their unique gifts and their inner compass.

Johan's work is grounded in embodiment, breath, resilience and action. Through breathwork, firewalking and years of entrepreneurial leadership, he helps people move beyond limitation and develop trust in themselves and their capacity.

But Northern Star is guided by more than its facilitators. It is also held by the land. Sju Sjöar, meaning Seven Lakes, lies deep within the forests of western Sweden. A place where water, earth, fire and air are present in remarkable balance. Surrounded by ancient forests, quiet lakes and vast Nordic skies, it has become both home and teacher. For years, Jeanette and Johan have lived, worked and raised their family here. The land has witnessed their challenges, their growth, their dreams and their deepest transformations. This is not a retreat held in a rented venue. It is an invitation into a place that has shaped the very teachings shared here. A place to slow down. To listen. To remember.

And perhaps, like so many before you, to hear something that has been waiting patiently beneath the noise.

Who This Is For

For those who feel that something is calling.

Not because life is falling apart.

But because something deeper is asking to emerge.

Perhaps you are standing at a crossroads.

Perhaps you have achieved much of what you once wanted, yet still feel a longing for more meaning, clarity or purpose.

Or perhaps you simply know that the next chapter of your life requires a different version of you.

The Northern Star is for those ready to take responsibility for their lives, their energy and their direction.

Not to be saved.

Not to be fixed.

But to return to themselves.

The group is intentionally small and curated through an application process to protect the depth, integrity and transformative nature of the experience.

Standards & boundaries

What is required of you here.

The depth of this experience depends on the willingness of each participant to fully engage.

Unexpected Moments

Some of the most memorable moments of The Northern Star are not listed in the schedule.

A meal shared on a floating sauna in the middle of a lake.

A fire beneath the Nordic stars.

A sunrise walk through ancient forests.

A spontaneous conversation that arrives exactly when it is needed.

A moment of stillness that changes everything.

While the structure of the week is carefully designed, we intentionally leave room for the unexpected.

For wonder.

For connection.

For the magic that cannot be planned.

Some of the most important parts of the journey are the ones we never saw coming.

And don't forget to pack your courage.

What you leave with

A life-changing return to yourself.

Greater clarity about who you are and where you are going.

A deeper understanding of your strengths, challenges and natural gifts.

Practical tools to navigate life with balance, courage and self leadership.

And a stronger connection to the person you came here to be.
